So I have Stargate on as I'm reading for class (I know, I know), and the episode currently on is "The Sentinel" from the end of season five. The scene where they're getting ready to leave for Latona has two really great lines: "I feel better just knowing there's an archaeologist watching our back," to which Daniel replies (holding up a knife) "Yeah, which end do the bullets go in again?"

I'd really love an icon of Daniel kicking ass with either of those as the caption.

I may have mentioned taking my brother out shopping along with his fiance and her family for new civvies. If not, it was a fun adventure in which a good time was had by all (except possibly my brother), despite the trouble we had making sure that he bought at least a few shirts that weren't checked.

Anyway, I was taking a study break and went back to Everybody's Crazy 'bout a Sharp Dressed Man, niamaea's hilarious look at Jacksonian Fashion Through the Years, and I realized that my brother's fashion sense is actually a lot like Daniel Jackson's.

Minor spoilers for the SG-1 episode Bounty.












In this episode, Daniel is researching something in a library outside the SGC. A pretty woman tries to chat him up, and he assumes that she's evil in some way. (It was great. And so true to life.) It reminded me immediately of Performance Reviews by Redbyrd (one of my favorite SG-1 authors), which takes place just after Prometheus Unbound. It's a great fic, which complements the scene in Bounty perfectly, and it was written over two years ago. You really need to go check it out. Really.

Having spent way too much time yesterday and today reading Remix fics instead of doing my homework, here are my favorites:

SG-1:
Trigger Finger (The Eleven O'Clock Remix). Daniel has an unexpected brush with danger, and his team members find out. Also check out the original, Trigger Finger by Kathryn Andersen. It's not quite a ninja!Daniel fic, but it's good.

Atlantis:
We Swim Here One Stroke at a Time (The Post Hoc Remix). Rodney re-acclimates to Earth, or doesn't.

The Pledge and the Turn (The Paramnesia Remix). It takes a special kind of magician to make the extraordinary ordinary. Lorne and McKay and AAR's.

Buffy:
Dragon Heart. Buffy and Giles go searching for a weapon, and have a heart to heart.

What a Father Is (the DNA Remix). "I realize you’ve a dearth of male role models in your life, but a father is more than just an older man who happens to be around or who just happened to supply half your DNA." What the monks didn't say about Dawn.

Star Trek:
Power Corrupts (The Absolute Absolution Remix). It's the trial of the aeon. The Q Continuum vs. Kes, for the destruction of the Borg.

Narnia:
Legacy (The Spy Who Loved Me Remix). The most important asset to sovereignty is intelligence.
